August 7, 2020 - Summit Start of School Year Updates

Dear Summit Families,

We are looking forward to welcoming your child back to Summit for the 2020-21 school year! I’m writing to share with you the following information and resources in preparation for starting our school year:

  • One Summit Family Plan | On-Campus Health and Safety Procedures

  • Summit Family Health Pledge

  • Family Training Videos

  • Virtual Book Day

Please carefully review the information below in preparation for the start of our school year, and let us know if you have any questions. One Summit Family Plan | On-Campus Health & Safety Procedures As a reminder, the details of Summit’s health and safety procedures for on-campus learning are outlined in our One Summit Family Plan, linked below for your reference. Please review the details of the plan and take time over the next week to talk to your child about the new health and safety procedures that will be in place on campus this year.

Summit Family Health Pledge The Summit Family Health Pledge enlists our shared commitment as faculty, students, and families in upholding the necessary guidelines and procedures to keep our Summit family safe. We will require all faculty, staff, families, and students to sign and agree to the pledge in returning to on-campus learning. If your child is participating in on-campus learning, once you have reviewed our One Summit Family Plan and our Family Training Videos (below), please use the link below to access and sign the Summit Family Health Pledge by August 17. Feel free to contact our office if you have any questions.

Family Training Videos In follow up to the procedures detailed in our One Summit Plan, we have developed two family orientation videos to prepare you and your child for starting the school year. If you have selected remote learning for your child, you should have received a separate email with more detailed information on Summit’s remote learning plan. One Summit Family Training Video V.1 English: https://youtu.be/anKalTL6zQM Español: https://youtu.be/gMsMukDZALo This video walks you through the Summit Family Health Pledge and our health and safety protocols on campus, including new procedures for drop-off and pickup, visitors, and food and drinks. As a follow up to this orientation, each teacher will be sending out a classroom orientation video on August 17 to explain the details of health procedures in their classrooms, including classroom arrangements to ensure social distancing, procedures for face coverings--including mask breaks, and procedures for lunch and recess. Google Classroom Training Video English: https://youtu.be/pwGKBHqp07s Español: https://youtu.be/irBJ9-Yhqeo This video provides an orientation on Google Classroom, the digital platform we will across all grade levels to support both on-campus and remote learning. Virtual Book Day | Tuesday, August 18 Book Day will be held on Tuesday, August 18 and will be hosted virtually this year. On Monday, August 17, your child’s teacher(s) will send you a welcome email including an invitation and link to join a virtual classroom orientation on August 18. We will have support staff available to assist students in bringing supplies to their classrooms as needed. Remote Learning Supply Pickup: For students participating in Remote Learning, curriculum materials and digital devices will be available for pickup on Tuesday, August 18 from 9:00 - 3:00 in the Breezeway (outside the office). -- As always, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions, suggestions, or feedback.
