Dear Summit Families, I hope you enjoyed your spring break! We are so grateful for your support and partnership as we ensure our children’s continued education through our remote learning program. As we look ahead, I know many are wondering about the status of this year’s campus closure beyond May 15, and what the status of our opening for our next school year will be. As of today, the statewide school closure has not been extended. However, we continue to monitor this situation and should we not receive updated orders from the state by April 30, we are prepared to make a decision on the status of our final two weeks of the school year at Summit based on what we believe is best for our students, faculty, and families. If we do extend remote learning through the end of the school year, we will reschedule Move Up Day and our 8th Grade Graduation ceremony to a date at the start of our next school year. These traditions remain important rites of passage at Summit, and we will ensure their continuation when it is safe for us to do so.
Regarding the start of the 2020-21 school year, we continue to plan for our scheduled opening on August 20. We will keep you updated over the coming months with additional information for the start of our next school year.
We are eager to welcome our students, faculty, and families back on campus when it is safe and appropriate to do so. Until then, we will continue to do all that we can to support our students and families and carry forward our mission of engaging students in learning experiences that stimulate discovery, inspire excellence, and nurture a positive influence in an ever-changing world.
Additionally, we continue to keep our website updated with resources available in our community, including meal assistance, telehealth, and internet assistance. Please let us know if you have any questions, needs, or feedback to help us best support your family.
With gratitude,
Kurt
