Welcome to Spanish
¡Bienvenidos!
The objective of the Spanish program at Summit Charter School is to prepare students for success in an ever-changing world. With the employment of ancillary materials such as guest speakers and interactive field trips, students are introduced to Spanish in its natural environment. Interactivity and individual participation are important aspects of the Spanish classroom at Summit. The students learn basic vocabulary and expressions needed for day-to-day situations. A strong emphasis on culture and geography ties the Summit classroom to the rest of the Spanish-speaking world.
3-5 Atrium
Students learn their new second language through a wide variety of games, music and other classroom activities. Emphasis is placed on learning about the people, places and even animals of our own community. The students are expected to participate both individually and in teams, where they will use previously learned concepts in practical settings. Students in the 5 th grade class enjoy lessons about the music, history and geography of Central and South America.
6-8 Atrium
With a heightened focus on verb conjugation, grammar and conversation, the middle school atrium is where the Spanish program at Summit "takes it up a notch". From interacting in groups to individually presenting projects in both spoken and written Spanish, the students will be challenged across many disciplines. In the 7 th grade, students are introduced to the modern Romance languages as a group; discussing their origins and their similarities. The middle school Spanish program will prepare students to learn from and about different cultures for the rest of their lives.
